A new institution 'Diakhitel Kozpont' was established in Hungary in 2001, to grant loans for higher education students. The authors discuss the outcomes of the first six years' experience. (download)

From Autumn 2008

  • Forty years on: long-term change in the first destinations of graduates by Tom Bourner and Pericles 'asher' Rospigliosi. When data on their first destinations was first published in the early 1960s, most new graduates found employment within the education system, whereas now only a minority do so. This has implications for how well HE prepares students for their next steps after graduation, the distinction between subject-centred and student-centred higher education and the espoused goals of universities. From Autumn 2007

  • Students' views of support in higher education: a study of current practice and future directions by Carol Robinson, Pat Le Riche and Angela Jacklin. This article reports findings from an empirical study of students' views of support from within and without the university. The authors, from Sussex University, conclude that university led systems should recognise the significance of non-university support. (download)
